Biography

Jitwan Floyd joined SMITH | ROBINSON as an Associate Attorney in August 2026.

Before joining the firm, Jitwan spent a year as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable J. Mark Hayes, II, Circuit Court Judge, in Spartanburg, where he drafted bench memorandums and jury charges, prepared trial and motion materials, and conducted legal research for Common Pleas and General Sessions rosters. While prepping for the bar exam, he also briefly clerked for a Plaintiff’s Firm in Columbia, where he drafted pleadings and conducted research as to the viability of a potential claim, including a petition to intervene under South Carolina Fair Housing Law.

Jitwan is no stranger to SMITH | ROBINSON, having previously served as a Law Clerk at the firm from 2024 to 2025, where he supported the defense of governmental entities and officials under the South Carolina Tort Claims Act and 42 U.S.C. § 1983. His experience also includes clerking for the Public Service Commission of South Carolina, and as a legal intern for a Chapter 13 bankruptcy trustee –Pamela Simmons-Beasley.

Jitwan earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law in 2025, where he received the Claud N. Sapp Award, the Matthew J. Perry Scholarship, and the Susan McCrary Scholarship. During law school, he served as Associate Articles Editor for the Journal of Law and Education, Chair of the Pro Bono Board’s Palmetto Leader initiative, Vice President of the Student Bar Association, and a Student Attorney in the Criminal Practice Clinic where he represented clients before the South Carolina Board of Paroles and Pardons and in magistrate court. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science, cum laude, from Lander University in 2021.

Outside his law practice, Jitwan enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and working in the funeral service industry.
